Christchurch, New Zealand

Welcome to our visitors page
If you are planning a visit to New Zealand, please ensure that you
include a stay in beautiful Christchurch, and of course, a visit to
The Avon Lodge No 185
Visiting other Lodge's is a custom well supported by the Freemason's of Canterbury, and our
many overseas visitors are also cordially welcome.  The Avon Lodge standard of dress is
traditionally a Dinner Suit, although we do have a number of members who attend in a dark
Lounge Suit.  This is common to almost every Canterbury Lodge.

The Lodge is more than happy to receive our travelling brethren in other dress, provided a
jacket and tie are worn.  Visitors to the Lodge should attend with their own apron if at all
possible, although we do have aprons available for loan.  If you are not known to any of the
Avon Lodge brethren, then our Tyler will be required to 'prove you'.  Of course this process is
assisted if you can bring with you appropriate documentation (certificate and/or receipt for
dues). If you have any further questions
CLICK HERE to email the Lodge webmaster - we are
pleased to assist our visitors.

We meet on the first
Thursday of each month at the Shirley Masonic Centre, 9 Shirley Road,
Mairehau, Christchurch.  This is a central city location, just outside of 'the four avenues').  The
map below shows the location of the Lodge building.  For additional information please visit
our
Locations page (on the main tool bar).
